Jul 21, 2025 - PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk is developing a community-based approach to its sustainability strategy through two programs in the Babelan area of Bekasi Regency. These programs include integrated waste management and strengthening vocational education.

Through the Sipandu (Integrated Waste Management System) Program, which has been running since 2022, the community in Muara Bakti Village is involved in the process of sorting and processing household waste.

Waste that was previously burned or dumped is now managed through a training system and the formation of local committees.

"Through Sipandu, we want to raise public awareness that waste is not just waste, but can be a resource," said Rani Maheswari, Corporate Communication and ESG Manager of PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk, in a press release on Monday (July 21).

According to her, this program emphasizes establishing a sustainable management system from the household to the community level.

This program has also generated local economic activity through the Waste Bank. Residents have begun sorting and depositing inorganic waste deemed marketable.

"We collect waste with economic value from residents' homes, clean it, store it, and sell it when the price stabilizes," said Lala Aprilia, Secretary of the local Waste Bank.

Ida Nuryatin Finahari, Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated, during a monitoring visit that this approach is relevant to the region's conditions.

"This area is prone to flooding, so waste management education is crucial to prevent the risk of environmental disasters," she said.

In the education sector, Cikarang Listrindo is also developing the Cross-Energy Program at SMKN 1 Babelan. This program includes training in occupational safety and health (OHS), the 5R principles, and the provision of learning resources to improve students' job readiness.

Cucu Sudraja, Principal of SMKN 1 Babelan, stated that several students have been recruited by industry, while six students have received internships in Japan.

This program is part of strengthening job skills that are directly linked to the needs of the industrial sector in the area.
