KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (POWR) is pursuing a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In line with this plan, POWR has added a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) on the customer's rooftop by 10.9 MWp.
This achievement is higher than the target set by POWR, which is 10 MWp per year. A total of 2.8 MWp is already running, and 8.1 MWp is in the process of being installed.
"With a target of adding 10 MWp per year, we are targeting the capacity of Rooftop PLTS to reach 21.3 MWp by 2022," explained POWR Management in a written statement, Thursday (14/4).
The addition of Rooftop PLTS is not the only POWR strategy in pursuing emission reductions. Management reports that POWR is also undertaking other initiatives through co-firing of biomass.
In 2021, POWR reported that it had successfully commissioned the biomass handling system. This stage allows Cikarang Listrindo to increase the usage of biomass fuel up to 20% of boiler capacity.
In addition, POWR also continues to monitor the development of electric vehicles (EVs), including Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKL).
"In 2021, we have developed the SPKL pilot project internally with the aim of exploring the potential and opportunities for developing this business in 2022," said management.
The POWR target, POWR can record a GHG emission reduction of 20% by 2030, in line with the Government of Indonesia's national commitment to reducing emissions in the energy sector, namely the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of 19%. According to POWR calculations, a 20% emission reduction can be translated as equivalent to 700,000 tons of GHG or the same as planting 7 million trees.
