Cikarang Listrindo Enhances Accountability in the 2022 Sustainability Report

Entering its 30th year, PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (POWR) remains committed to ‘Powering a Sustainable Future’. This is in line with the Company's commitment to be the "Light that Brings Goodness" to all stakeholders.
 
In the 2022 the Sustainability Report released on March 31, 2023, the Company demonstrated its high commitment to improving transparency and accountability in sustainability reporting.
 
In the report, not only that POWR complied with OJK regulations and GRI standards, but also adopted the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). As a result, the Company achieved a positive performance in the economic aspect.
 
The total volume of electricity sales reached 4,413 GWh, an increase of 4.8 percent compared to the previous year. The Company also achieved sales of US$550.5 million and a profit of US$72.5 million for the year 2022.
 
"The number of our industrial customers also increased from 2,527 customers in 2021 to 2,595 customers in 2022," according to the written statement on Tuesday (4/6).
 
In addition to the commitment in the economic aspect, POWR also demonstrated sustainability commitments in Environment, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG).
 
In the environmental aspect, the Company successfully increased the use of environmentally friendly materials, such as biofuels, by 37.4 percent compared to the previous year. The Company also increased the installed capacity of rooftop solar power (PLTS Atap) from 3.2 MWp to 12.5 MWp.
 
"These two renewable energy sources generated a total of 47,128 MWh of renewable energy, an increase of 48.2 percent from the previous year. The Company also consistently maintained the emission intensity level at 0.64 GHGe/MWh in 2022, lower than 0.68 GHGe/MWh in 2021," the statement read.
 
One of the successes was achieved through the mangrove conservation and local biodiversity conservation outside forest areas.
 
Sustainable mangrove conservation was carried out to improve the ecosystem in Pantai Bahagia Village, Muara Gembong District, located on the northern coast of Bekasi Regency, from 2019 to 2022, with a total of 5,000 trees planted.
 
"On the other hand, local biodiversity conservation outside forest areas was conducted in the Kiarapayung Block 2 Biodiversity Park located in Sumedang Regency, which is home to 1,184 trees," the official statement continued.
 
As a company that cares about the environment and sustainability, the Company also supports the Indonesian government's energy transition plans through a medium-term transition design stated in the Company's Sustainability Roadmap 2030.
 
This commitment is manifested, among others, through the provision of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in the industrial areas served by POWR. On March 1, POWR inaugurated the operation of the first SPKLU in the East Jakarta Industrial Park (EJIP) industrial area.
 
Previously, POWR has also used electric vehicles in its operations to support the promotion of electric vehicles in the industry and reduce emissions. This is in line with POWR's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2030.
 
"In response to the interest of our industrial customers in using electric vehicles, this SPKLU pilot project will be continued this year by adding more charging stations in industrial areas, with the hope that every customer of the Company will use electric vehicles for their operations in the future," stated the official announcement by POWR.
 
With its commitment and good performance in the economic and ESG aspects, the Company has improved its ESG risk rating by MSCI from B to BB, the S&P Global ESG risk rating increased from 21 points to 43 points, and the Sustainalytics ESG score improved from 9.3 to 30.8 out of 40.1.
 
For information, throughout 2022, POWR realized CSR funds amounting to US$498,692, and based on various initiatives and achievements in the environmental field, the Company obtained the Green-rating PROPER certificate for the GSPP Jababeka from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
 
Among the 170 recipients of the Green-rating PROPER certificate in 2022, the GSPP Jababeka is the top 10 ranked for the GFPP/GSPP/DGPP power generation. This demonstrates the Company's credibility in conducting sustainable operations, responsibility, and good corporate governance.
