Muarabakti Bersih Waste Bank Holds Another Ramadan Bazaar: Exchange Waste for Affordable Basic Necessities

CSR-Community|March 14, 2026

Mar 14, 202 - The Ramadan Bazaar, where people can exchange waste for affordable basic necessities, is one of the programs initiated by the Muarabakti Bersih Waste Bank (BSMB) and is routinely held every holy month of Ramadan.

In Ramadan 1447 H, the Muarabakti Bersih Waste Bank once again organized the Ramadan Bazaar, held at the main waste bank in Babakan Hamlet, RT 004/RW 02, Muarabakti Village, Babelan District, on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

The waste-for-groceries exchange program is a community-based initiative (Waste Bank) that allows people to trade recyclable inorganic waste (such as plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, cans, etc.) for affordable basic food packages (“cheap groceries”). This program educates residents to sort their waste from home, reduces waste accumulation, and provides direct economic benefits.

The types of basic necessities provided by the Waste Bank at this Ramadan Bazaar are:
1 liter of cooking oil for Rp 10,000
5 packs of instant noodles for Rp 10,000
1 kg of granulated sugar for Rp 10,000

Wais Al Qorni, Head of the Muarabakti Bersih Waste Bank, said that this activity is part of their commitment, together with the Muarabakti Village Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) and PT Cikarang Listrindo, to fulfill the rights of community members who are registered customers.

“We are providing affordable basic food packages subsidized by PT Cikarang Listrindo during this holy month of Ramadan. As we know, the prices of basic necessities usually rise ahead of Eid. With this low-cost grocery bazaar, we hope to help ease the burden on the community, especially our customers,” said Wais Al Qorni.

“In addition, we are educating people who are not yet our customers so they understand that waste has economic value and can be exchanged for groceries. We also hope that those who have not yet joined will be encouraged to join us,” he concluded.

Mrs. Bewok (67), a resident of Babakan Hamlet RT 004/RW 02, was very enthusiastic and expressed her gratitude for this activity, as it has been very helpful for them.

“Today I got cooking oil priced by the Waste Bank at Rp 10,000 per liter. It’s quite cheap, and I bought it using waste instead of money,” she said.

She hopes that this program can help maintain environmental cleanliness while also educating residents not to litter, so that the environment can become cleaner and healthier.
