Cikarang Listrindo Supports the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program
Public News|April 09, 2019
Bandung, April 9, 2019 – PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (POWR) supports the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program initiated and launched by the West Java Provincial Government, at the East Parking area in Gedung Sate Bandung, Tuesday; the program is aimed at reducing the local community’s dependence on LPG gas.
The form of support from Cikarang Listrindo for the program is to donate around 3,000 electric stoves to residents in 11 regencies/cities in West Java, such as in Karawang Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Subang Regency, Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bekasi Regency and City of Bekasi and West Bandung Regency.
In recognition for this support, PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk (POWR) was acknowledged by the West Java Provincial Government as one of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) partner companies who supported the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program.
Corporate Relations representative of PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk, Ady Dhiromi, expressed his gratitude to the West Java Provincial Government for the award.
“Of course, we would like to express our gratitude for the award since, as a business player in Bekasi Regency, we strongly support all West Java development programs,” he said.
Ady hoped the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program would increase the electricity consumption per capita in West Java.
“That is one of the West Java Province’s targets and one of the ways to increase electricity consumption per capita,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Energy and Mineral Resources of West Java (ESDM) Bambang Tirtoyuliono said that the West Java Provincial Government stipulates that electricity consumption per capita is one of the development indicators in West Java, especially in the electricity sector.
“Therefore in order to achieve this electricity consumption per capita indicator in West Java, today we are launching the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program in West Java,” Bambang said.
Bambang said that the event was the launching and symbolic giving program of 4,130 electric stoves to the community with 900VA electric power in nine regencies and three cities, covering 75 districts and 212 villages/sub-districts throughout West Java through a CSR mechanism.
According to Bambang, this program is the initiative of the West Java Provincial Government in supporting the Government’s policy to the community, especially residential and commercial sectors, to use electric stoves.
In addition to encouraging increased electricity consumption per capita in West Java, the Gas-to-Electric Stove Conversion Program in West Java was launched to reduce community dependence on LPG gas.
“This is in line with Government’s policy to encourage the use of electric stoves to reduce gas consumption,” he said.
He further added that the innovation in the electric stoves usage could reduce gas imports that had been carried out to meet the consumption needs of 3 kg LPG.
West Java Province is the region with the largest 3 kg LPG users in Indonesia, where the allocation of 2019 reaches 1.3 million tons of LPG, or a total of 20 percent of LPG quota nationally.
Apart from that, West Java Province is also a residential area with a huge amount of electricity consumption, which reaches more than 12.9 million PLN’s residential customers so that there is potential to shift from gas-fired stoves to electric stoves.
When used massively, with a large number of households all of which are diverted to electric stoves, there is potential to reduce carbon emissions to 5.48 Gigaton CO2 equivalent per year.
Meanwhile, the contribution to increase electricity consumption per capita for users with 2200VA power, with total customers of 274 thousand, will have an impact of 6.08kWh per capita per year.
