Oct 21, 2024 - The University of Indonesia (UI) School of Environmental Sciences has partnered with Cikarang Listrindo through the Eco Lighting Bring Happiness program. This collaboration aims to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
The program aims to utilize renewable energy as a lighting source in coastal areas, specifically in Pantai Bahagia Village, Muaragembong District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
This program involved a community service team from the University of Indonesia's School of Environmental Science, Cikarang Listrindo, and local residents. The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and educate the community about the importance of renewable energy (NRE).
During this activity, the team conducted various activities, including outreach on NRE, its types, and the benefits of using it. They also introduced how to harness solar energy to generate electricity for nighttime lighting. The program concluded with the inauguration of a solar power plant (PLTS) installation, which will be used to illuminate public facilities in the village.
Ahyahudin Sodri, Head of Green Innovation Research Management at the University of Indonesia's School of Environmental Sciences, hopes this activity will benefit residents, including providing lighting. "We hope this will be the beginning of further collaboration on lighting programs and other initiatives," he said.
He added that this program is part of an effort to utilize solar energy as a renewable energy source for life.
"We are using it to bring happiness to the residents of Pantai Bahagia Village through solar panels that provide lighting at night," he explained.
This program has received a warm welcome from the Pantai Bahagia Village community. They hope that similar programs can continue for the welfare and more sustainable development of the area.
