Public News|May 02, 2024
2 May 2024 - Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Jisman Hutajulu, has affirmed the reliability of the power supply in the Cikarang Industrial Area. He urged PT Cikarang Listrindo, as the utility provider in the area, to ensure the continued reliability of the electricity supply to this major industrial hub in Java and Bali.
"PT Cikarang Listrindo serves the electricity needs of large industries. It's not just about the size of the demand, but the reliability of the power supply. Even a slight disruption can affect the national economy," said Jisman during a working visit to PT Cikarang Listrindo in West Java on Thursday (May 2, 2024).
He explained that any economic disruption would lead to a multiplier effect across many sectors. Hence, it is essential for the government to monitor and evaluate the reliability of power supplies in specific regions.
"As the government, we need to facilitate, observe, supervise, and monitor every operational area according to the law and regulations, with the goal of transitioning to green energy," Jisman added.
He emphasized the importance of the meeting to gather information on the electricity situation and power generation activities at PT Cikarang Listrindo, particularly in terms of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and support the energy transition toward the 2060 Net Zero Emission target, especially in electricity generation.
Station Manager of PT Cikarang Listrindo’s PLTGU, Jannes Sirait, reiterated the company’s commitment to its designated business area by providing reliable electricity to industrial customers.
"Cikarang Listrindo is considered a strategic company, with its power plant classified as a National Vital Object, supplying not only industries but also hospitals," Jannes said.
He also noted that PT Cikarang Listrindo’s PLTGU has earned a green rating in the environmental assessment program (Proper Hijau) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. To enhance service quality, the company has formed quality control teams, encouraging all employees to continuously make improvements in quality management.
As a holder of the Electric Power Supply Business Area designation, PT Cikarang Listrindo covers an area of 5,375.17 hectares. Its infrastructure includes power plants with a total capacity of 1,253 MW, supplemented by 22.1 MWp from rooftop solar power, supported by 150 kV transmission and distribution networks.
This power infrastructure not only ensures reliable electricity supply within Cikarang Listrindo’s service area but also contributes to economic growth and national development.
