Cikarang Listrindo Prepares Net Zero Emissions Roadmap for 2060

Public News|October 08, 2024

8 October 2024 - PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk, a Private Power Utility (PPU), is currently developing a roadmap to achieve net zero emissions by 2060, aligning with the Indonesian government's target. This initiative is part of the company’s long-term commitment to supporting a sustainable energy transition, in line with the implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

As a company that has been operating for more than three decades, Cikarang Listrindo serves five industrial estates, i.e. Jababeka, MM-2100, East Jakarta Industrial Park, Hyundai Inti Development, and Lippo Cikarang.

Sustainability and ESG principles are the foundation of the company's operations, aiming to maintain a balanced business approach with a focus on environmental management, social responsibility, and good governance.

One of the company’s tangible steps in supporting the energy transition is the operation of nine Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) in five industrial estates, launched mid-last year. Additionally, the company is building seven more SPKLUs that will be operational soon.

In its long-term plan, Cikarang Listrindo aims to establish 30 SPKLUs across these industrial estates. "This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to creating an electric vehicle ecosystem in industrial areas," said Christanto Pranata, Corporate Secretary of Cikarang Listrindo, in an official statement.

These charging stations expand on a previous trial where the company has been operating an Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) at its operational office since 2021. The SPKL supports 27 electric vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, used for company operations.

The shift to electric vehicles also plays a role in reducing emissions and improving operational efficiency. Cikarang Listrindo has developed a Carbon Roadmap 2060, which outlines the company’s plan to achieve net zero emissions by that year as part of its greenhouse gas reduction strategy.

Another initiative is to increase the capacity of its Rooftop Solar Power by 10 MWp annually. This effort not only aims to reduce emissions but also demonstrates Cikarang Listrindo's commitment to investing in renewable energy.

By mid-2024, the company has successfully increased its Rooftop Solar Power capacity to 23.9 MWp and targets to reach 38.7 MWp by the end of the year.

Additionally, the company is focusing on the use of biomass, such as palm kernel shells and wood chips, as alternative fuels to replace coal at its PLTU. Since 2019, Cikarang Listrindo has implemented co-firing at its PLTU, combining this with rooftop solar power operations as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
